PAPA-DUM FEATURED IN THE LONDON PRESS FOR OUR DIWALI 2022 MENU!

At Papa-dum, we celebrated the 2022 Hindu New Year with the launch of a limited edition Diwali menu at both our family-run, Indian street-food restaurants.

Diwali, the festival of light, follows the Hindu lunar calendar and is celebrated on a moonless night in October or November. Diwali in 2022 brought five days of Diwali festivities bringing families together to enjoy Indian feasts and exchange gifts.

Bringing the streets of India to the streets of London

The Papa-Dum team of Indian chefs carefully curated the Diwali menu inspired by Indian traditions, sourcing all of the spices and tastes directly from India for an authentic experience, bringing the streets of India to the streets of London.

A traditional Chaat street food set menu

The 2022 three course set menu included a selection of Nashta homemade savoury snacks which families traditionally come together to make in the run-up to the festival and are an offering given when visiting family through Diwali.

The menu consisted of Diwali Chaat street food starters, followed by a meat or veg Thali and finished with special Diwali sweet desserts, as well as PAPA-DUM’s signature Chai Indian tea.

The Thali dish is Indian food at its best

The PAPA-DUM Thali is a true celebration of Indian cuisine, representing the feast that traditionally brings families together during the festival; it included three curries, a dhal, savoury snacks, sweet rice, pickles and papadums.

Hiren Bagdai, owner of PAPA-DUM added

“To me personally, as a practising Hindu, Diwali is and was the most important festival of the calendar year. It’s a festival that is warm, fun and about celebrating with family and food. Diwali stands for a great moto: light over darkness”
