"OUR FOOD NOT ONLY SATISFIES THE CRAVING FOR SOMETHING HEALTHY AND DELICIOUS, BUT WILL LEAVE YOU WITH THE FEELING THAT ONLY A HEART-WARMING, HOME-COOKED INDIAN MEAL CAN.”
A family run business with a big ambition
Papa-dum a small family run business with a big ambition, to revolutionise Indian food providing you with authentic dishes in a convenient manor. At Papa-Dum, our passion for Indian culture and cuisine is reflected in every dish we serve.
Disrupting the 'grab and go' market
Originally called ‘curry in a hurry’ this dream was born with a desire to disrupt the food ‘grab and go’ market where the high street and food scene was dominated by sandwiches, wraps and sushi. Indian food was not fairly represented, with Indian food being the most popular international cuisine in the UK, why couldn’t lunches be more inspiring.
With this passion for tasty, aromatic Indian food, Papa-dum was born. Drawing inspiration from our heritage and the vibrant street food scene of India, our food is bursting with colours, aromatic herbs, and spices that create a heavenly flavour.

Family recipes passed down through generations
All our dishes are family recipes, passed down through generations, from dals, to curries to our infamous chai we are honoured to be able to share our homestyle dishes with you. Even today, any new recipe added to the menu has been tested with our family. Food has the unique ability to bring people together, breaking down cultural barriers and creating shared experiences. At the heart of many Indian gatherings is the communal sharing of food, often centred around a steaming pot of curry or simply sipping a cup of chai. It’s a wonderful tradition that remains in most Indian homes today.
Inspired eating is our moto, this is exactly what we want to do, moving away from traditional lunch options and giving you the option to select something different just like you were coming home as our guest for dinner. It gives us great pride when non-Indian customers select something different, our mission is being accomplished.
Papa-Dum - James Street
James street kitchen at St Christophers place, was born out of Covid where we wanted to showcase some live cooking and a larger array of street kitchen dishes, the Papa-dum brand got a makeover, an Indian inspired cocktail menu was created, hot street food was an option alongside the introduction of magnificent grilled dishes.
The process of cooking together and sharing food is seen as a way to forge deeper connections and create lasting memories our instore design leads itself to this.
Whether it’s a simple dal or a complex biryani, the act of sharing food is a powerful way to celebrate and honour cultural traditions to test and grow our brand presence, understanding customer trends.
Papa-Dum - Fetter Lane
Fetter Lane our first store, opened early 2019, our flagship branch showcased our full range of ‘grab and go’ items alongside a curry and chaat counter.
This location allowed us to test and grow our brand presence, understanding customer trends.
We like many others were severely affected by the pandemic, our business relied on office workers and lunch time peak trade, following the end of the pandemic new ways of working needed to be established as new working practices have been established for many businesses in the city.
This sadly resulted in us closing our original branch.
